Winter Wedding Cake
how does the following poem describe Canadian winter…?

Late lies the wintry sun a-bed,
A frosty, fiery sleepy-head;
Barticles but an hour or two; and then,
A blood-red orange, sets again.

Before the stars have left the skies,
At morning in the dark I rise;
And shivering in my nakedness,
By the cold candle, bathe and dress.

Close by the jolly fire I sit
To warm my frozen bones a bit;
Or with a reindeer-sled, explore
The colder countries round the door.

When to go out, my nurse doth wrap
Me in my comforter and cap;
The cold wind burns my face, and blows
Its frosty pepper up my nose.

Black are my steps on silver sod;
Thick blows my frosty breath abroad;
And tree and house, and hill and lake,
Are frosted like a wedding-cake.

That its very cold in Canada? and that they like the way it is during winter in Canada?

who out there has ALREADY completed a winter wedding??

I’d love to hear how it went, decorations, pictures, cakes, EVERYTHING! I’m very excited to be getting married in the winter, for a little bit of a different feel.

ALSO, if any of you have any left over items you might want to sell, I’d love to know about those as well. :)

It wasn’t MY wedding, but I’m a wedding photographer, and one of the MOST beautiful weddings I’ve ever photographed was a winter wonderland/Christmas wedding! The ceremony took place in a church (which was already decorated for Christmas!!) And it was all candlelit! The bridesmaids all wore white gowns (much simpler than the bride’s) with white fur shoulder capes. Instead of bouquets, they carried white fur muffs with a pointsetia on it. The reception took place at a convention center that was decorated to the nines for Christmas! There was even an old fashioned sliegh that all the guests had photos taken on! The reception was decorated in red, white and gold. White table cloths, with red and gold candles and red & white flowers, for favor boxes there were gold wrapped square gift boxes tied with red ribbon. (I have no clue what was IN them…LOL) crystal snowlake hung from the ceileing, reflecting candle light everywhere. The reception sight aslo had some sort of machine that normally sprinkles down colored confetti during the dancing, but during THIS Bride & Grooms first dance, artificial snow fell gentlty ont the dance floor as they shared thier first dance. The Bride had a very ambitious Aunt who made every niece a dress with a black velvet top and red plaid taffeta skirt and every little boy was dressed in black pants, white shirt and a bow tie or neck tie to match the plaid skirts. (these kids weren’t even IN the wedding, every child there under 13 was dressed in these outfits!) gigantic (empty) gold wrapped and red ribboned packages were stacked under Christmas trees in every corner, there where white wooden riendeer (the kind people put in thier yards) with red bows around thier necks in little groupings around the edges of the room too! It was TRULY one of the most gorgeous wedding I ever had the pleasure of photographing!!!
