How I can attach fondant flowers to a marshmallow fondant cake covered with marshmallow?

I'm making a birthday cake for the daughter tea of my fifth birthday party on Saturday. The cake will have a fondant gum pink marshmallow covered, and then I'm planning on using the paste excess sugar to decorate the outside of the cake with flowers and swirls and such. My question is, what is the best way to get decorating fondant to stick to pasta sugar already on the cake? Should I use tap water? Water with sugar dissolved in it? Egg white? Thanks in advance for your help!
