Cake Decorating Ribbon

A great idea for cake decorating is to use ribbon. The colors, widths and textures of ribbon are of great variety and virtually endless.

A white tiered cake with black velvet ribbon provides a dramatic effect.

For Christmas, you could use thin green ribbon on a thicker red ribbon and add some other decorations as well.

One idea to keep in mind, is that it is probably a good idea not to add the ribbon until the last moment to avoid grease or fat from the icing (depending on the type of icing, of course, this may not be relevant) soaking into the ribbon and staining it.
