What supplies will I need for decorating cakes?

O.K. so…I like to cook and for some reason i just thought maybe i wanted to decorate cakes. So all I want to know are basic things. And Also I just want to make the actual cake and then frosting and cut them into circles and put butter cream on the top and put another layer on top until there’s three circles. and then i just want to decorate it with frosting all over it so you can’t see the cake anymore. I’ve never made a type of cake like that only the ones that you buy the frosting at the store and bake the cake in the pan. I was thinking maybe i could make the cake in the pan and then cut out little circles or something adn stack them on top of each other. Problem is i’ve never done that before and also i DON’T HAVE ANY TOOLS! so if you have website for tools or instructions on baking and Decorating Cake that would be very helpful to me. Also if you have any ideas or tips for me from yourself that is fine too! thank you so much! you’re comments are appreciated! )

You can do this and it will cost you very little. Let your wrist do the work for you and you won’t need a lot of equipment and it is tons of fun. I started decorating 35 years ago and I am still doing it (commercially).
You really need a set of round pans (8″). You could cut the circles from a sheet cake but you would waste a lot of cake. One recipe ..or one Cake Mix…will make two 8″ round cakes…or one 9X13 sheet cake.
You will need some form of turntable.

You will need a spatula for spreading the icing.

You will need a tip #22…for making borders.

You can do a lot with just those tips and they cost less than $1.00 each. You can get them at any place that sells Wilton products. Any craft store should have them.

We are talking roughly $20. here to get you all the supplies you would need for quite awhile.
