Do I need a fondant cake using fondant?

I’m making a cake, and I bought a small packet of sugar paste to drill flowers on the cake and decorate with flowers. “Can I can them in the icing as they are or I have to cover the entire cake with fondant?

Yes you can do that. What do all the time. Just make sure you push the fondant flowers and decorations on the icing and not slide. Normally what I do is then put a heart or a star or something of the cake with fondant, then summary icing and it gives a little extra support.
