Tips And What To Get When Beginning Cake Decorating?

Yeah, So I’ve always always always wanted to make cakes, and decorate them and stuff.. And I’m positive it’s something I’d always want to do.. I’d like to get started on it.. So I know if I want to go to school for it or not, I don’t know much about it.. I’d really like to know what tools to start out with, What the beginner needs.. I only have a mixer, and some icing tips and “bags” So, yeah.. And I’ve got Cake Pans.. Which is good? I just don’t know what I need to start..

I’d highly recommend a class. They offer them at craft stores or some adult classes at your community college program. If you’re not quite sure what to get, I would recommend to just go to a craft store, such as Michael’s or JoAnn’s and there’s a section for it. There are some books and kits in the matter too. You’ll see one brand in particular called “Wilton” which more or less has a monopoly in this niche market.
The only tool that I is not a necessity is the mixer, but it will be worth its weight in gold. And I mean the stand-up mixers made by Kitchen Aid or Cuisinart. A handmixer will be very tiring, unless you want to do nothing but whipped cream.
My first suggestion when starting to try out the patterns, such as flowers, writing, weaving, and other patters, don’t try on the cake until you have experience. Even trying it on paper would be fine, you’ll make a lot of mistakes at first, but you can get the hang of it with practice.
I hope you have with your decorating. It’s all about presentation. Even cakes from cake mixes will taste better when they look fabulous.
